About Me

My name is Sonia and I am your kitchen helper at African-Recipes-Secrets.com.

I am also the person behind the scene building this site. This is still amazing to me because I know nothing about computer programming.

So how exactly did I come to be building
and maintaining a website about African cooking? Read on...

My Beginnings…

I was born and raised in Liberia, West Africa. I immigrated to the States with my family in 1985, just as Liberia moved towards a civil war.

I live in North Carolina now, enjoying my four children, two miniature dachshunds, and a wonderful journey with God.

I am an educator by profession. Through the years, I have taught both high school and college level classes in chemistry and the life sciences.

I turned 50 last year and found myself thinking about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I love teaching and I love the students I teach. But I had been at it for a long time. I needed a change and a break.

Read about my big decision. Learn how I came to be building a website about African recipes with the help of SiteBuildIt.
